I'm going to play an Asuran (Normally I wouldnt play something so cutesy) just to piss off the people getting so bent out of shape over it. It's not like you're forced to play as one...

If this really is a new race for the game, and that race is going to be a major part of GW - I welcome it! This game needs more personality. It's not because it's cartoonish, it's because it's unique, and fits the definition of fantasy.
As of now, 90% of the humor and personality in the game is pop culture references. I don't mind an occasional pop culture reference, or inside joke kinda deal, but there is waaaay too much of it in GW. What we need is more down-to-earth humor, something that immerses the player into the story more, rather than jumps them out back into pop culture.
This little guy shows a side of Guild Wars that we only got as mild amusement with Mhenlo and the ladies. It shows that yes, even a fantasy world can be fun as well as dangerous, instead of just making fun of itself amidst non-stop action. Guild Wars needs more fun elements.
I agree that if GW ever went anime-style like Lineage, or cartoonish like WoW, that would be a tradgedy of the highest caliber. I disagree that this Asura is anywhere close to either of those spectrums. This game simply needs more personality, like LoTR, tasteful, dramatic, but still fun.

Nope our 3 continents make up the whole of the globe which is FLAT NOT ROUND PEOPLES! And boat is our only means of travel. I mean come on we can't have anything more than ghosts, ninjas, minions and grey giants! All of those things MUST be there in the future and our boats will sink if they go beyond the 3 continents!

My first thought: Grey Giant....
what are those now? 5-10k?
This pet will be like 40k for a day, then be pennies. I wouldn't be surprised if MiniPig happened to them. like 30k for an hour then 2-3k...

LOL, I sold 3 mini pigs for 35k in LA when I got them from Fortunes. Then I was sad that I do not have one myself. But WOOT, got one during event, LOL. Still, Grey Giant is relatively the 2nd or third largest mini in game. Wouldn't be suprised if Asura is just as big, or BIGGER.

My thoughts:
Dear god when I looked at it...
If it becomes a playable race I will become intimate with the term seppuku. Though I mainly solo, so I won't have to worry about it too much...
Next thought is they won't give us Dwarves, Centaur, or Tengu to play with, all of which would be leet in the extreme, but they would give us this crap...
Hopefully the rumors are false.
Anyway, as for the mini-pet, I can't believe people are complaing about the availability of the magazines in their area again. It's the most rediculous complaint I have seen in this game.
For one I'm in Australia, we have absolutely no contact we PC gamer in our stores, though this may not be true for the major cities like Sydney and Melbourne, but generally no. We do however have something called credit cards and telephones. Thus in this glorious age of technology we call up PC gamer distributor and have them send us some copies internationally. It doesn't cost that much more.
And even if we couldn't do that, which we (me and my wife) did, the Grey Giants are one of the easiest minis to get now besides the Dread Pig Roberts and Varesh. You pay 10k you can get one. What's that? You think you should get one free, well people have to pay for the magazine, so if you buy one for 10k in game, you aren't paying for the magazine.
The market will be flooded with these ugly buggers too, and will probably end up being even cheaper than the grey giant due to the weird factor...

I agree it looks like something from WOW. One of the things I like and picked GW was that it had Characters/ monsters etc... that look realistic and not the toons from my sons cartoon network tv shows. GW2 is looking worse and worse.
- I can see it now Donkey Kong is gonna be the next big bad boss and the Rugrats will be his elite squad with the Teletubbies nuking us from afar
